Established in 1878 through a bequest from Emma and Harriet Taylor, Taylor Library has given over 140 years of continuous service to the citizens of Derry, New Hampshire. Offering public library resources as well as children and family programs, personal reference assistance, deliveries to shut-ins, family museum passes, and so much more, Taylor Library is staffed by a trained librarian and staff, assisted by volunteers. We welcome you to our library, registered in the National Register of Historic Places.
Originally housed on the second floor in Upper Village Hall, it was then moved into the current building in 1929, thanks to the generous donation from Frederick J. Shepard, Jr., uncle of Astronaut and Derry native, Alan B. Shepard Jr. The Shephard family volunteered their time to the continuing growth of the library.
