Notes regarding time
3 classes: Tue, Wed, Thu Apr 29, 2025 - May 1, 2025Description
A Mutoscope was a cast iron device in the early 1900’s that was used to view short scenes of action, or movies if you will. Hundreds of photographs of action shot in sequence were secured onto a wheel within the machine, and when one turned the hand crank, the photos switched in rapid succession, like a flip book, creating the illusion of movement.
In this class participants will recreate the Mutoscope with a device called a FlipOScope.
The FlipOScope holds 24 photos, or roughly one second of movement. Each student will receive one FlipOScope to make their own animation.
