How to Throw a Star Wars Themed Party!

BBQ and Wet & Wild Pool Fun!

By Karyn Martin, Publisher, Macaroni Kid Derry May 3, 2021

Summer is almost here, which means BBQs and pool parties! Everyone loves a good theme, right?

FYI - I'm a total Star Wars fangirl!

Proof:

1. My first movie, when I was about 6 mo old, was Star Wars!

2. I have chickens named Leia and Rey

3. My favorite socks, which I stole from my cousin during our annual holiday Yankee Swap, are actually the 12 Days of Star Wars collection. These ones are similar.

4. Chewbacca lives in my basement.

5. Most importantly, I call on The Force regularly to keep me in alignment with my place in the universe...yep, I'm serious!

So a few years back I hosted a family fun reunion style event and of course I had a Star Wars theme! No need to search the galaxy, there are SO many fun and creative ways for everyone to get in on the action. Here's a quick look at my top suggestions...

TOP TIPS FOR HOSTING A STAR WARS THEMED PARTY

1. Darth Vader Pinata - Who doesn't love smashing evil and a sweet surprise... come to think it of... that's very Vader!

2. Star Wars Bouncy House - Simple and straight forward, a crowd pleaser.

3. Tatooine Tattoos Station (and Face Painting) - Pick up the Tattoos online and bring the characters to life.

4. Character Cut Out Photo Opps - This is why Chewy still lives with us. Grab a few larger than life cut outs and set up some fun photo spots.

5. Pool-safe, Kid-friendly Light Sabers - These take a minute to make, but even without a pool the kiddos love them. Bonus: no one gets hit in the eye with a sharp stick.

6. Costumes Encouraged - Obviously!

7. Star Wars Themed Food - SO many possibilities! A Death Star Watermelon... I mean... com'on! If this doesn't scream family fun then call me Jar Jar Binks!
