7 Amazing Donut Recipe Ideas The Won't Make You Glazed and Confused

Something for Everyone Including Banana Donuts for Dogs!

By We Are Not Martha June 3, 2021

The weather’s getting warmer and there’s a lot to look forward to as summer begins. But first things first… The first Friday of every June marks a very important day: National Donut Day. We love kicking off the summer with a delicious donut!

Making donuts at home is super easy and a fun activity to involve kids in, too! If you want to get a little more adventurous, you can make fried bakery-style donuts. But if you want to keep things nice and simple, baked donuts couldn’t be easier. Of course, buying donuts and conducting your own flavor taste test is always an option, too!

Fry them Up:

Frying donuts takes a little bit of time since fried donuts are generally yeast-based and the dough needs time to rise. After that, heat your oil and fry them up! For many people, there’s nothing quite like a freshly fried donut.

You may want to purchase a donut cutter if you’re making cut out donuts and will either want a pastry bag with tip or donut injector for filled donuts.

Some of my favorite fried donut recipes include these Glazed Coffee Chocolate Frosted Donuts:

But filled donuts are also delicious and fun to make and I love these Grapefruit Donuts (but you can use any flavor of jam filling that you want)

Make it Easy and Bake:

Baking donuts is always easier than frying them because you simply whip up a quick batter, fill a donut pan, and bake. After baking, you can frost and decorate however you want.

You’ll want to make sure you have a standard-size donut pan for baking donuts and I recommend filling the pan by putting the batter in a Ziplock bag with the end cut off and piping it in.

The options for baked donut flavors really are endless!

Keep it simple and seasonal with these Strawberry Frosted Donuts:

Your kids will go wild for these Fruity Pebbles Donuts, though you can make donuts with any cereal you want:

Or any candy you want! These Milk Way Donuts are favorites:

Make Them Mini:

You can also use a mini donut pan for adorable little tiny donuts. They make a great party dessert or topper for drinks like these Caramel Coffee and Donuts Milkshakes.

Get Your Pup Involved:

Want to get your dogs in on the fun? Make these Banana Donuts for Dogs. They’re made with whole wheat flour and mashed bananas and have a yogurt and honey icing. Humans can eat them, too, but they have a lot less sugar than the donuts we’re used to.

No time to bake?
