When it comes to outdoor fun and adventure, Greater Derry boasts some of the best playgrounds and parks that will keep kids entertained for hours. From swings and slides to climbing walls and water features, Greater Derry's parks and playgrounds keep my kids active, provide great opportunities to meet old friends and make new ones, and best of all, they're FREE!

I often get asked about our favorite playgrounds, so I thought I'd share my family's top five playgrounds and parks in Greater Derry with you.



Griffin Park

What we love about Griffin Park:
The playground at Griffin Park is perfect for kids to burn off some energy. It is equipped with swings, slides, climbing structures, and other play equipment, ensuring hours of fun. The new, inclusive play area features equipment suitable for children with mobility and developmental challenges. Griffin Park also offers various sports facilities, as well as open green spaces ideal for sports like soccer, football, frisbee, and other outdoor games. Nature enthusiasts can take advantage of the park's walking trails and scenic paths to explore the surrounding woodlands and appreciate the natural beauty of Windham.

Field of Dreams

What we love about Field of Dreams:
The playground at Field of Dreams features dedicated areas for toddlers and older children, making it a fun play place for all ages. This Salem playground is semi-shaded with a smaller structure and wooden train for smaller children and a large wooden structure for older children. Children can run through turrets, tunnels, and passageways. They can also swing across the monkey bars, zip down the zip line, slide down the fireman’s pole, and run across the bridges.

In the summertime, concerts are played on the stage. With plenty of trees and an area to climb around on the rocks, this park has something for everyone.

What we love about Don Ball Park:

Don Ball Park is the perfect place to mix recreation with sport. With multiple spaces for youth sports teams to practice and play, this park is a hub of summer sports activity in Derry. Don Ball Park is also home to the largest playground in Derry and hosts a fabulous summer splash pad. This park is great year-round but especially fun to visit in the hot, summer months.

What we love about Wonderland Play Park:

Wonderland Play Park boasts an assortment of colorful and creative play structures, including swings, slides, climbing walls, and tunnels where children can explore and indulge in imaginative play. A sandbox area allows kids to build sandcastles, dig, and play with various sand toys. Parents can oversee children's play from seating areas or the designated picnic spots. Additionally, shaded areas offer respite from the sun on warmer days. Additionally, this Windham playground was designed with accessibility in mind.

Circle of Fun Playground

What we love about Circle of Fun Playground:

Circle of Fun Playground provides a fun atmosphere for children while parents can enjoy a scenic afternoon by Lake Massabesic. This Auburn playground features a castle structure for endless hours of fun, as well as classic playground features such as swings and a merry-go-round. Likewise, there's plenty of room for free play in the spaced-out setup of the playground.
