Townie Talk: WINDHAM with New Resident Moira V.

The Real (Estate) Truth from a Mom in the Know

By Judy Massey, aka Nani December 2, 2021

Welcome to Townie Talk where we sit down (or Zoom in) with a local resident in our community to get the inside scoop and find out why…out of all the places in the world and in Greater Derry New Hampshire they chose their specific town! Their opinions are their own. So, if you disagree about their favorite spots you’ll have to just battle out on social media in your local townie Facebook Group… j/k! We use “kind words” here at Macaroni Kid!

We have several townie rankings at Mac Kid Derry, and Moira is definitely a New Kid on the Block. She, her husband Morgan, 17 month old William, 10 week old Henry, and Penelope their bulldog found their house in Windham last March, closed in June, and moved in July. She was 34 weeks pregnant when they moved!

In her own words:

MKD: What is it about Windham that you love?

Moira: I went to UNH, so Windham is comfortable for me. It felt right for us. It is a sleepy little town, six miles over the Massachusetts border, just off the beaten path, but with easy access to the highway. Morgan loves Windham because it’s a convenient commute to places he has to travel in his job in the medical field.

MKD: What local kid-friendly spot in your town can you not live without?

Moira: The library is amazing. There are baby story hours and activities for seniors. We love living near Griffin Park, and Corbett’s Pond is the free beach (open year-round for Windham residents only) with swim lessons available. There’s so much to do. We go to Canobie Lake Park, and we LOVE Benson Park in Hudson.

MKD: In addition to being a local mom, you have a business. Tell us about it.

Moira: My business is residential real estate. For several years I was a social worker in the probation system in Boston. I made a change five years ago, because I recognized that I like to connect with the human element, but connecting with people in crisis was difficult. Now I help people in the positive mode of searching for a house. I work with investment clients and have even done new development in real estate. I love it.  Now, I specialize in real estate from city to the seacoast.

MKD: Other than your own business, what top local business do you suggest checking out?

M: That’s a hard one, but it has to be Heavenly Donuts. There is nothing better than those butter crunch donuts. We also love Zachary’s Steak House, and I like MD Esthetics when I want to treat myself to something special.

MK: Thank you, Moira. Macaroni Kid welcomes you to southern New Hampshire.

Moira’s favorite local places:

Heav'nly Donuts for the best butter crunch donut!

Zachary’s Chop House for a delicious meal!

MD Esthetics for a well-deserved treat!

Benson Park is an awesome and free kid favorite spot!

Nesmith Library for an adventure in your mind!

Canobie Lake Park for a day of endless play!
